Unibox FAQ

Answers to common questions about the Unibox, the inbox in JournoFinder where replies to your campaigns arrive.

Written by Veronica Fletcher

The Unibox is the inbox in JournoFinder where replies to your email campaigns arrive. To learn how to read and answer replies, see Read and reply to journalists in the Unibox.

Where is my normal email in the Unibox?

Your normal email is on the All tab. The Unibox opens on the Primary tab, which shows only emails linked to a campaign. All shows every email in the current folder, including campaign replies.

  1. In the sidebar, under Outreach, click Unibox.

  2. At the top of the email list, click All.

The Unibox remembers the tab you picked for next time. If Primary is empty, it shows “No campaign mail yet” with a Show all mail button that takes you to All.

Does archiving in the Unibox archive the email in Gmail or Outlook?

No. Archiving in the Unibox only changes the Unibox. Nothing moves or changes in Gmail or Outlook. The same is true for marking an email as read or unread. Reading an email in Gmail or Outlook does not mark it read in the Unibox either.

To see archived threads, click the view name at the top left of the email list and choose Archived. A new reply on an archived thread stays in Archived. It does not move back to the inbox. See A reply is missing from the Unibox.

Does deleting in the Unibox delete the email in Gmail or Outlook?

No. Delete removes the whole thread from the Unibox, but the email stays in Gmail or Outlook. There is no undo in the Unibox. If anyone replies to the thread later, the whole thread comes back to the Unibox with all its earlier messages.

Warning: On a mailbox shared with your team, Delete and archive remove the thread for everyone on the team.

Why does my browser tab say "{name} replied"?

The Unibox tells you when a journalist replies to one of your campaigns. While the JournoFinder tab is in the background, its title switches to “{name} replied” once a second, for example “Jane Smith replied”. The tab icon shows a red dot while you have unread campaign replies.

The title goes back to normal when you:

  • return to the JournoFinder tab, on any page

  • open the Unibox

  • read or archive every unread campaign reply, for example on another device

Only replies to campaign emails trigger this. Out-of-office auto-replies to a campaign email count as replies, so they trigger it too. JournoFinder does not send an email or a phone notification for new replies.

Why does the Unibox badge show 1 when I can't find a new reply?

The red number next to Unibox in the sidebar counts unread threads on the Primary tab only. It does not count normal email, archived threads or deleted threads. It shows “99+” above 99.

To find the unread reply:

  1. Open the Unibox and click Primary.

  2. At the top left of the list, click the view name and choose All Inboxes.

  3. Look for a row with the name in bold. Bold rows are unread.

The badge goes down when you open, archive or delete the thread. Each person on a team has their own unread count.

Can my manager or team see my inbox?

Only if you share the mailbox. Every mailbox is private by default. Team admins cannot see a private mailbox either.

The owner of a mailbox can share it on a team plan. Go to Email Accounts, open the mailbox and tick Shared with your team in the Team sharing section. Then click Save changes. Sharing shows teammates all the mailbox's email, including personal email. There is no option to share campaign emails only. See Share a mailbox with your team.

Why is my reply draft missing on another computer?

The Unibox saves reply drafts in your browser only. A draft you start on your laptop does not show on another computer, in another browser or in Gmail or Outlook drafts. In a private browsing window, drafts may not save at all.

On the computer where you started it, the thread shows a red “Draft” label in the list. Open that thread to carry on writing.

Can I add CC, attachments or write a new email from the Unibox?

No. The Unibox does not have these options:

  • CC or BCC on a reply

  • attachments on a reply

  • a new email that is not a reply or a forward

  • choosing which mailbox a reply comes from

A reply always goes to one person, from the mailbox that holds the thread. Forward sends to one address and includes the attachments from the original email. For anything else, write the email in Gmail or Outlook.

Where did the chat button go?

The support chat button is hidden in the Unibox, because it would cover the email you are reading. It is also hidden while an email is open in a pop-up window. To chat with support, go to any other page in JournoFinder, for example Campaigns. The chat button shows at the bottom right.
