You can change an email campaign after it has launched. Available on: all paid plans. Not included in the 7-day free trial. A campaign is an email and its follow-ups sent to a set of people.
Your changes only apply to emails that have not sent yet. Emails already sent do not change.
What you can change
This table lists what you can change after launch and where.
What | Where | Pause first? |
The text of the first email and each follow-up | Emails tab | Yes |
How many days each follow-up waits | Emails tab | Yes |
Add a new follow-up (a later email that sends if the person has not replied) | Emails tab | No |
Mailboxes (the email accounts you send from), sending window, tracking and send order | Settings tab | Yes |
Pause the campaign to edit it
In Campaigns, open the campaign.
On the Overview tab, click Actions > Edit campaign.
If the campaign shows “Sending”, a popup asks “Pause to edit?”. Click Pause and edit. The campaign pauses and the Emails tab opens.
If the campaign already shows “Paused”, the Emails tab opens straight away.
Every tab shows “Paused. Nothing sends until you resume.”
Change the text of an email
On the Emails tab, click Edit on the email you want to change.
Make your changes.
Click Done. The bar at the bottom shows the number of unsaved changes, for example “1 unsaved change”.
Click Save changes. A popup lists each change and how many people it affects. To throw away all unsaved changes, click Discard instead.
Click Save changes in the popup. You see “Changes saved”.
Change how long a follow-up waits
On the Emails tab, click the delay next to the follow-up, for example 3 days later.
Choose a new delay from 1 to 7 days.
Click Save changes in the bottom bar, then Save changes in the popup.
Follow-ups still waiting to send get a new send time. It is counted from when the previous email went out.
Add a follow-up to a live campaign
You do not need to pause to add a follow-up. This works when the campaign shows “Sending”, “Paused” or “Finished”.
On the Overview tab, click Actions > Add follow-up. The Emails tab opens.
Click Add follow-up. A new follow-up opens as a draft. Nobody receives a draft.
Choose how many days after the previous email it sends, then write the email.
Click Set live in the bottom bar. A popup shows how many people it goes to, for example “Goes to 18 people.”
Click Set live in the popup. For a finished campaign, the button says Restart and set live.
People who replied, bounced or were removed from the campaign do not get the new follow-up.
A campaign holds 5 emails at most, counting drafts. Add follow-up emails to a campaign explains subjects and threads.
Change mailboxes, sending window, tracking and send order
On the Settings tab, change what you need. The sending window is the days and hours campaign emails are allowed to send.
Click Save changes in the bottom bar. A popup lists each change.
Click Save changes in the popup. You see “Settings saved”.
A new mailbox you tick starts sending the emails still to send. Emails scheduled outside a new sending window wait for it to open.
Note: A follow-up sends from the same mailbox as the email before it. If you untick that mailbox, its follow-ups wait until you tick it again.
Resume the campaign
Click Resume on the paused banner. The campaign starts sending again.
Limits
You can only remove the newest follow-up, and only before it has sent to anyone. Click Remove next to it. It goes back to a draft with its text kept.
You cannot remove the first email.
A campaign that shows “Finished” has no Edit campaign item in the Actions menu. You cannot change its emails or settings. You can still add a follow-up.
A campaign that shows “Scheduled” or “Stopped” has no Emails tab. Its Settings tab is read-only.
