Why are some checkboxes greyed out?

If we are unable to find a journalist associated with an article, the check box will be grey and you won’t be able to select it.

This happens for two reasons:

1) Generic authorship: Articles are attributed to a non-specific author, such as "staff" or "news desk", and therefore lack identifiable individual contact information.

2) Unidentified journalists: Articles labelled as 'No journos found' mean the tool has not been able to extract any author information. This could be because there is no information available, or it could be that something about the set-up of the article is new for JournoFinder so it didn't find the journalist.

If you encounter an article that has a journalist associated with it but is marked 'No journos found,' please flag this to us by requesting a manual update.

Our team will manually verify and assign the correct journalist to the article, enabling you to include them in your media list.

For immediate contact details, search for the journalist's name via the "Journos" option in the main menu to find their profile. If there is no profile, we will create a profile for them as part of the manual update.

Articles without assigned journalists can be filtered out using the 'hide articles without journos' feature.

What happens when an article has more than one journalist?

If there is more than one journalist assigned to an article, selecting that article will add all the journalists to your media list.

Why don't all the journalists in my media list have an email?

We have several ways of finding an email address for each journalist, but there will be times when we don't find one.

You can request a manual update for any journalists missing an email and we will investigate, though it's important to note that finding an email address is not always possible.

What happens when I request a manual review of my media list?

Requesting a manual review initiates a comprehensive check of your media list by our team. Our focus is to ensure that journalist profiles are current and as detailed as possible, with a priority on verifying those without an email address.

You will be notified via chat when the review is complete.

How long it takes will vary depending on how long your list is and how many other reviews we are working on, but we will provide an estimated timeframe once your request is received.
