Not all the journalist profiles will be 100% complete. The manual review system allows you to flag these profiles to us so we can complete them.
You will see the option to request a manual review in various places:
On every result on the search results page (from news search and bulk upload).
On individual journalist profiles.
On your media list.
Note: It's not always possible to get all the information for a journalist, so even after a manual review there may still be some missing information.
Manual updates on search results
JournoFinder is still in its early stages, and there may be occasions when it misses a journalist.
If you spot an article without a journalist assigned when there is one available, you can request a manual update.
We will manually assign the journalist to the article and make sure the journalist's profile is up to date.
We will message you when we've updated the search results, and you should then be able to add the journalist to your media list.
You can also request a manual review if you spot something wrong with the search result. In rare cases, extra journalists may be assigned to an article, or there may be more than one journalist for an article, but we've only picked up one.
If you can't wait for us to do the manual update, you can take the name of the journalist and search for them using our 'Journos' search tab.
Once you find them, click on their profile and you can add them to your media list from there.
If you don't see their profile come up (and you've double-checked the spelling), this means we don't have one for them yet and we will create one as part of the manual review.
Manual updates on journalist profiles
You may come across a journalist profile that doesn't have an email or seems incomplete. In this case, you can request a manual update.
We will review all the information in the profile and make sure it's up to date. We will also fill out as much missing information as possible.
Once we message you to say the update is complete, you can refresh the page to see the changes. If there is still no email, this means we were unable to find one for that journalist.
If you have this journalist in any media lists, any updated will also be reflected there.
Manual updates on media lists
When you request a manual review of your media list, we will look through all the journalist's profiles and make sure they're up to date and as complete as possible.
We will prioritise looking at journalists without emails. The updates will appear on your media list in real-time (after you refresh), and we will inform you via chat when the whole review is complete.
Note: The tool is constantly working behind the scenes to keep our database up-to-date, and any journalists without emails who are added to a media list will automatically be prioritised for updating (even if you don't request it). These updates will appear as and when they get completed.
If you notice any changes from one day to the next, this will be why.
How long will a manual review take?
Once we receive a request for a manual update, we will update it as soon as possible and let you know when the review is complete.
It will be updated within 24 hours, but we aim to have it done much sooner than that and the average time it takes is 2-3 hours (this will be longer if you request a manual review of an entire media list).
If you need the review completed sooner, please flag this to us in the chat.
Any issues?
Let us know in the chat and we will sort it.
