This article lists every Email Outreach limit: emails per month, mailboxes, contacts, daily sending limits and campaign sizes. Available on: all paid plans. Not included in the 7-day free trial.
A mailbox is an email account you connect to JournoFinder. A campaign is an email and its follow-ups sent to a set of people. You can check your own limits and usage at Preferences > Limits.
Who can use Email Outreach
Email Outreach comes with every paid plan. Monthly and annual plans get the same limits. The 7-day free trial, the free plan and the journalist requests plans do not include it.
Without Email Outreach, the Outreach section in the sidebar is greyed out. Any Outreach page shows a page headed “Email Outreach”. This table lists the message you see there, for each type of account:
Your account | Message you see |
Free account that has not had the 7-day free trial | “Outreach is included on paid plans. The 7-day free trial covers everything else.” |
7-day free trial | “Outreach is included on paid plans. Upgrade now to start sending.” |
Trial set up by our team | “Outreach is included on paid plans. Choose a plan to start sending.” |
Team member, while the team is on a trial | “Outreach is included on paid plans. Ask your team admin to upgrade and you'll get it automatically.” |
Limits on each plan
Each plan has three Email Outreach limits. This table shows them for one seat. A seat is one user on your plan.
Limit | Paid plan |
Emails sent per month | 1,000 |
Connected mailboxes | 1 |
Contacts | 1,000 |
A contact is a person you added yourself, by hand or from a CSV file.
Lifetime accounts may have different limits. Contact support to check yours.
How limits work on a team
On a team plan, each seat adds to one shared total. The whole team uses that total.
For example, a team with 3 seats has 3,000 emails a month, 3 mailboxes and 3,000 contacts. One team member can use all of it.
See your limits and usage
At the bottom of the sidebar, click your name.
Click Preferences.
Go to the Limits tab.
Under “Usage limits”, you see three Email Outreach rows: “Emails sent this month”, “Mailboxes” and “Contacts”. Each row shows what you have used and your limit, for example “240 / 1,000”. On a team, each row has a “Team” label and says “Shared by your team”.
The bar turns red when you have used 90% or more.
Monthly email limit
Every email sent from your mailboxes through JournoFinder counts toward the monthly limit. This includes:
campaign emails
follow-ups
test emails
replies and forwards you send from the Unibox (your shared inbox in JournoFinder)
The count starts again on the 1st of each month, UTC time. It does not follow your billing date.
If you have no emails left this month, you cannot launch a campaign. You see:
“Your monthly email quota is exhausted (1000/1000 sent this month). Please contact support if you need higher limits.”
The numbers show your own count. On a team, they show the team total.
You can launch a campaign that is bigger than the emails you have left. It sends until you reach the limit, then pauses. In Campaigns, the campaign shows “Quota Reached”. On its Overview tab, the headline says “Paused, you have hit your monthly email limit”.
A campaign paused this way does not restart by itself on the 1st. Click Resume when you have emails left. If you resume before then, the campaign pauses again.
Mailbox limit
Your plan sets how many mailboxes you can connect. Reconnecting a mailbox you already have does not use a new one. Each email address can only be connected by one JournoFinder user.
When all your mailboxes are in use, connecting a Gmail or Outlook mailbox shows “You've reached your connected-account limit”. Connecting with IMAP and SMTP shows:
“You've reached your connected account limit (1 account). Upgrade your plan to connect more email accounts.”
On a team, it shows:
“Your team has used all 3 connected email accounts on its plan. Disconnect one, or upgrade to connect more.”
The numbers show your own limit.
To connect a different mailbox, disconnect one you no longer use, or upgrade your plan.
Daily sending limits for each mailbox
Each mailbox also has daily limits. These protect your mailbox from being blocked by your email provider. This table lists them.
Limit | Value |
Campaign daily limit (campaign emails per mailbox per day, across all campaigns) | 30 by default. You can set 1 to 250. |
Most emails of any kind one mailbox sends in a day: Gmail, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 business and IMAP | 250 |
Most emails of any kind one mailbox sends in a day: personal Outlook, Hotmail, Live and MSN addresses | 150 |
When a mailbox reaches either daily limit, its campaign emails wait until the next day.
The daily counts start again at midnight UTC. Test emails and Unibox replies do not count toward the campaign daily limit. They do count toward the 250 or 150 total.
To change the campaign daily limit, see Set your sender name, signature and sending speed.
Campaign and contact import limits
This table lists the campaign and contact import limits. They apply to every plan.
Limit | Value |
Recipients in one campaign | 500. Anyone added past 500 is not added. |
Emails in one campaign | 5: the first email and up to 4 follow-ups |
Rows in one contacts CSV file | 1,000 |
A recipient is a person in a campaign. A follow-up is a later email in a campaign that sends if the person has not replied.
