AI assistant and MCP: FAQ and troubleshooting

Common questions about the JournoFinder AI assistant and connecting it to your own AI tool.

Written by Veronica Fletcher

Common questions about the JournoFinder AI assistant and about connecting it to your own AI tool.

Do I need to copy an API key to connect my own tool?

No. Connecting uses a browser sign-in. You add the server address in your AI client, then sign in to JournoFinder and approve access in your browser. There is no key to copy or paste.

Which AI clients work?

Any client that supports MCP, including Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and custom agents. The server address is https://mcp.journofinder.com.

I see "MCP access is not enabled on your account"

Connecting from your own AI tool requires a paid plan. Trial accounts can use the in-app assistant at app.journofinder.com/assistant but cannot connect an external client. You can review plan options at app.journofinder.com/plans.

My tool asked me to sign in again

This is normal. Access refreshes quietly in the background, and now and then your client will ask you to approve again. Just sign in and approve as before. If a connection ever gets into a bad state, removing and re-adding it resolves it.

Can I pick up a list later?

Yes. Every list is live and stays at its link, so you can return any time. In a fresh conversation the assistant can find your active lists and carry on where you left off.

Where do I find the list it builds?

The assistant gives you a link when it creates the list, under app.journofinder.com/lists. Open it to watch contacts appear as they are added.

How is the MCP different from the in-app assistant?

It is the same engine. The in-app assistant needs no setup and is available during a trial. Connecting your own tool needs a paid plan and lets you work from Claude, ChatGPT, or another client you already use.
